Dear Sis and family have been visiting. From Illinois. They are back home now. Where it is much cooler than it is in Texas. Not. Apparently it is hot all over the whole US of A. And it has been an especially hot summer in Texas. But we didn’t let that keep us from doing some fun things while they were here.
We even did outside things. Hot outside things. Friday night we went to The Ballpark in Arlington to see the Texas Rangers play baseball! And the Rangers were hot too. Smokin’ hot! They beat the Toronto Blue Jays 12-2. What a fun time we had!
Here we are arriving at the Ballpark. That’s Dear Sis and her two grandkids with my Dear Hubby carrying the cooler. We didn’t bring anything to drink or eat in the cooler. We just wanted to have ice cubes to pour over our heads. Actually we did have some cool bottles of water in the cooler. To protect us against dehydration. Did I mention it’s hot in Texas?
That’s my Dear Niece with the camera. Taking pics for the lovely family with the statue of Nolan Ryan. We didn’t know these people. Dear Niece was just being kind and taking their pic for them. While the rest of the family looked on and sweltered in the heat. See the misters in the background? We wanted to stand under them the whole game.
And of course we had to get a picture with that other looming stadium in the background. You know. That other sports team. You can tell my family wasn’t all that excited about this picture. Or maybe it was just the over 100 degree temp.
Soon it was time for the National Anthem and the unfurling of the huge American flag. Notice the great zoom on my camera. We were not nearly as close as this looks. Our tickets were in the nosebleed section. But we had a fun time anyway.
This lucky little boy got to take the balls out to the pitcher’s mound. He got a high 5 from the Rangers’ mascot on the way back.
Action shot! I’m quite proud of this pic actually. That’s Josh Hamilton (a real crowd favorite Ranger) at bat. Notice the ball just getting ready to cross the plate. Cool!
Nelson Cruz and Michael Young had really great games. I was really glad for that since I’d bought my Great Niece and Nephew Ranger shirts to wear with their names on the back. Cruz actually hit a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 4th and Dear Nephew was quite proud to be wearing his name on his back. Aunt Barb scored some big points with those shirts!
And after the game there were fireworks! I’ve never taken pics of fireworks before, but I thought this turned out really nice.
Cool, huh? Everyone thought the fireworks were nearly as good as the game.
Fun fireworks.
I had fun taking pics of them. And I took a million. Thought you might need to see them all. Not. Maybe just a couple more?
Aren’t they pretty? Maybe you had to be there to really appreciate them. Oh, well. Suffer through my pics, OK?
Maybe if you scroll really fast through the pics they will feel like live action. It’s worth a shot.
And as we left the stadium, we walked down and down and down and down a huge ramp to get to ground level from our nosebleed seats. And I was intrigued by how it looked when you looked over the edge.
Sorry for the blur. It was an action shot. I couldn’t stop moving or I’d have been mowed down!
This is Dear Niece and her son walking in front of me. With big name Rangers, Cruz and Hamilton, on their backs. Another action shot. To keep from being mowed down from behind.
Many thanks to the Rangers for cooperating and winning for my guests. And they won Saturday night too in a real nail biter come-from-behind win in the bottom of the 9th! Remember last year when I told you about my new love for baseball? My fanaticism with the game continues…….
And a good time was had by all. Wish you could have been there. Oh, but maybe you were? After all, there were about 37,000 people there. Maybe one of them was you!
Enjoying the rest of baseball season from the comfort and cool of my living room,
Barb
Enjoying the rest of baseball season from the comfort and cool of my living room,
With water on tap……
Wonder if one scrolls FAST from the bottom to the top of the fireworks pictures if is more true to life BOOM?…..
Note to self: blurry pictures are ACTION shots….. that Barb has all the angles covered.
And a good read was had by me to start the day….
Barb, that was better than the pre-game and post-game show on TV! And they NEVER show the fireworks. Loved your shots of all the action! Great job on the Ranger shirts, Auntie Barb…Go Rangers!
Seriously, I agree, getting those shirts for them was brilliant! (Note to self.) I wanted to see pics of their faces, though!! I have no idea what your sis looks like but have heard about her for so many years….oh, well, I’m sure she’s beautiful and looks just like you! (Hey, does she play Words with Friends?–lol!) Great blog, Barb!
GREAT action shots! Too good that we can see the ball in front of Josh’s bat!!!!
We have the best seats to watch the ballgames, in our air conditioned house laid back in our recliners with the food and restrooms just a few steps away. No lines waiting anywhere. However, there is nothing like going to the ballpark to hear the sounds, see the sights, and watch the game and the people. Looks like everyone had a blast!
