Laughter, The Best Medicine

Didn’t I just tell you that I thought laughter was terribly good medicine?  Don’t you need a dose of that today?  I recently got an email from a friend that gave me some mighty good laughs.  And then today I received another with a video link that nearly had me rolling on the floor.  So for today, I just thought I’d share.

First, since more and more Seniors are texting and tweeting, there seems to be a need for an STC (Senior Texting Code.)  Here are a few:

    ATD – At The Doctor
BYOT – Bring Your Own Teeth
   BTW – Bring The Wheelchair
   CBM – Covered By Medicare
CUATSC – See You At The Senior Center
FWIW – Forgot Where I Was (I definitely need this one)
GGPBL – Gotta Go!  Pacemaker Battery Low
   GHA – Got Heartburn Again
IMHO – not In My Humble Opinion but, Is My Hearing-aid On?
LMDO – Laughing My Dentures Out
   LOL – Living On Lipitor
ROTFL……CGU – Rolling On The Floor Laughing……Can’t Get Up
TTYL – Talk To Ya Louder
WWNO – Walker Wheels Need Oil

And my personal favorite:

OMSG – Oh, My!  Sorry.  Gas

The video link I received is of a sweet little elderly lady who was asked to give the invocation at a convention of retirement center managers.  This woman, Mary, is a friend of the couple who founded Home Instead Senior Care.  She has wonderful timing and great delivery.  I think you will enjoy her “prayer.”

Mary’s Invocation

Now don’t you feel better since you’ve had your laugh today?

Preceding message brought to you by Dr. Barb.

Enjoy!

SO funny!! It was good that you didn’t have to see her to enjoy her “prayer”…because my eyes were full of tears! I especially related to the comment about being afraid to leave the house last Thanksgiving…!!! ROFL (and CGU!)

  2. Diane Wyte says:

    Dr Barb,
Had my dose of falling off my chair today – so thank you! Of course that is not ME to whom you are referring — everyone else!
    Thanks for the meds!

  3. Lani says:

Barb…definitely a great dose of laughter for today, and one I’m passing onto my parents! You continue to be so creative in the different topics you include in your blog!

  4. Peggy says:

Too funny! But if Lani is passing this on to her parents…………..where does that leave (some) of the rest of us???!@# Like Diane says, you couldn’t possibly be referring to ME! Thanks for the laughter………………………MMPIMP!

Love this! Slow of wit….not this lady. Could I be so lucky?

What's on your mind today?
