What? Me, a blogger?

OK – here it is – you asked for it and you got it!  Now I expect LOTS of support!  Once again you all are my test market for this thing…..  Now you’ll have to bear with me as I try to figure it all out.  I know I can count on you!
This blog stuff is gonna have to get easier or I’m going to be a wreck!  Maybe I’m just tired after 585 hours of retreating with only 2 hours of sleep this week?  Well, anyway – I’m moving along to try to post a few pics here so I can talk about them as we go…..By the way – since we’re ALL new to this thing, just thought I’d let you know that you can make the individual pictures bigger if you click on them.   In case there’s something you want to see up close and personal and all…. (like the stuff between Pam’s smiling teeth in photo #4 – just kidding, Pam!)
Here are some random Trash to Treasure shots….
The Trash to Treasure table
This is the LOADED table (it got re-loaded every evening with new things – it was a truly MAGIC table!)
Madelyn gets a treasure of fabric!

Betty does NOT want her treasure stolen!
Betty does NOT want anyone to steal her treasure!
Pam's lovely treasure
Pam receives a beeeeeyuuuutiful applique project…
Now because we’re just trying things out here – let’s try inserting a video…..  OOOPS!  Maybe not!  It costs $59.97 to upgrade to a video package for your blog — EVERY year.  Guess we’ll just go with pics for now…. and do the YouTube thing for the videos!  When I do get those uploaded there, I’ll insert the link in the blog post.  I’m assuming I can do THAT!
By the way – for those of you who were at retreat and are interested….. GOOD NEWS!  My skinny ankles are back!!!!  I guess I must have left them at home because the fat, swollen ones seem to show up the minute I walk in the door at The Compass Centre!  And I don’t think it’s the water when they show up THAT fast.  Something in the air?  What’s up with that?  How in the world am I going to be able to retire at TCC when I’m ready for the nursing home with this problem?  Someone is going to have to help me solve the Mystery of the Swollen Ankles before October.  So get on it you sleuths out there!!!!

Guess this might have to be it for my posting today or dear hubby might disown me.  I’ve made 11 revisions to this one so far!!!!  YIKES!  And notice how the font just changed?  Gotta figure out why THAT happened too…… sigh….. you all have created a MONSTER here!  Like I really need to spend more time on the computer!  It’s all your fault!  And I’m going to keep blaming you until the day I die….which could be sooner than we think if I don’t get something else accomplished here today.

So….. I’m signing off on this first post.  And as soon as I solve the Mystery of the Changing Font – I’m off to the shower!  (By the way – although this SAYS it was posted on 4/29 – after 11 revisions it REALLY should have 4/30 on it.  Guess I’ll figure out how to fix THAT issue at a later time too…. too many things to learn!  And now you ALL are along for the journey!)

Thanks for coming along – and for your support,
Barb
P.S.  When you visit the page, please leave a comment for me so I know you’re out there!  And maybe you can let me know which font you like better…. number 1?

Or number 2?  Or just tell me what you had for dinner or what to do about my swollen ankles or if you’ve ever blogged yourself or are just torturing me with it…..

just wanted to test the comments!

    • lynn says:

Barb, I love it, you and the pioneer woman! To think we knew you before you became famous! Actually, we would recognize you in pj’s and no makeup, that’s how well we know you!

    • Pat says:

      Barb,

I’m so proud of you. This is so exciting. I have already placed you on my bookmark bar. I’m so excited to follow you on this journey.

  2. LaNelle says:

How do you do it? Blog, quilt, teach and clean house? Yikes !!! Lost my head for a minute. I don’t clean house but I thought others might. Won’t miss another retreat. Too much happening that I don’t know about.
    You go girl !!!!

  3. Suz says:

What beautiful friends you have! I bet they are talented, too. I like the 2nd font (b/c it’s BIG), but in black, please. Can I demand these things since I am no longer a newbie? hahahahahahahahahahahahaha Go Barb!

  4. Nancy says:

You are amazing! What is the secret to your energy? Loved the RR reports from the retreat and LOVE the blog. I like the first font better, it is easier to read for my old eyes.

  5. Sally says:

Good girl, Barb!!! It’s look’in good! I’m having a problem with seeing the pictures but we can work that out whenever. Sure is hard integrating back into real life. Fantasy at TCC is a lot more fun!!! Judy and Phyl came over this morning and we had such a lovely visit. I just love them! And, I love all the people in that room!

I like font #2 but, like Suz, I would like to be darker. I love it being contained on this one site and how easy it is to post a reply. Barb, what would we ever do without you???

Anyone going to Quilter’s Dream to pick up the BOM today. I think I’ll run down there right quick…..we’ll, on second thought, I think I’ll drive since I have a perfectly good car in the garage.

Keep going, Barb….it will be second nature before you know it. We appreciate you!!!

  6. Peggy says:

Way to go Barb………….you have to be the Queen Bee of the computer world for JSS at least! I’m thinking your swollen ankles just may have something to do with not having assumed a horizontal position for at least a week…that and your butt being glued to the chair at TCC!!! Put those feet up and leave the computer glued to your knees, but then again running would probably help too and that may be a little difficult with the computer glued thing…………….I got the blog right away with just one click (for those not tooo cuputer literate like me) and the photos too. You are a wonder, even though Mark may be feeling neglected, we on the other hand REALLY appreciate all you do for us. Thanks a bunch, Peggy (who is still in pj’s……….Bob’s off on his motorcycle trip and I am still recovering from long hours in the TCC sweat shop!)

  7. Susan says:

Hooray, I’m finally in! Everything is coming up, and I can now read and post comments. Barb, this is GREAT!!! I agree with S&S, Font #2 and darker, please. Maybe they have Shower Laptops now…you know, like those shower radios? You’d just have to endure the moments of trauma to detach the laptop from your knees and get to the Shower One. And back. And how will you get to the grocery store? Still of of kinks to work out, I’m sure! And why doesn’t retreat last a week????

  8. Peggy says:

I can click on comments at the bottom and read them or on the right side………….since we don’t have to log in, does this mean everything goes out to the world???

I’m clicking on the email notification so will let you know.

    • Barb says:

Yes, Peggy, the whole world can read your comments! So you better be careful! LOL! This is quite different than the yahoo group. But it also means that it’s “sharable” with JSSers family and friends. We are really getting to be computer geeks, aren’t we? I’m having a ball reading everyone’s replies….. enjoy!

  9. Madelyn says:

OK, just read all the comments. Now off to clean the house – a little. We have a formal dinner tonight. Does this mean I have to wear make-up????

  10. Sueme says:

This blog thing is all new to me too. Just one click and I was in and could see all the pictures instantly. I have a new laptop with windows 7, so no problems with the site. Will I get to see show and tell pictures at any time?

  11. Sarah says:

Way to go Barb. Now, can I expect photos from every Bee and every Stitching day at QD? This is great for us out-of-towners. It looks so professional.

  12. LaLa says:

    WAY COOLLLLLL Barb!!!

  13. Brenda says:

You know, your writing reminds me of Pioneer Women-same funny humor and perspective of life. Also, I prefer the larger font.

  14. Kay Valentine says:

WOW, Barb. You are pretty, pretty talented. I don’t know what a blog is or why it’s different from email, but even though I’m computer challenged I got right here and hopefully this gets back to you and wherever else it goes ; ] Thanks for keeping us connected!!

  15. Judy Linn says:

    Way to go, Blogger Barb!!!!!!!

I clicked the link and there we are in the wild flowers!!!!

Not-so-wild-gal here today. Just up from nap and foresee early bed tonight…Yawn!

    WHAT A GREAT, GREAT RETREAT!!!

  16. Kaye Bowling says:

Wow! I am so proud of you! This is great…keep it up! Philip and Alison created a blog on their month in Alaska last summer and it was great to keep everyone updated with their activities and photos. I’m looking forward to hearing more!

  17. Janet Hill says:

I love it Barb… Great Job! Now we will know what we are missing by not being a part of this group. You guys look like you are having such a great time. I look forward to seeing all of your pics.

  18. Sue OK says:

Here in the snow and cold, I can relive Mount Calm and all the special JSS friends. Great job, Barb. I look forward to addition tales from behind the sewing machine……..or under it! The pictures bring back so many good times.

  19. Diane says:

Count me in, Barb – I’ll keep on reading about what all you are doing —– what’s this about Pioneer Woman? I loved the retreat snippets that Peggy sent me – made me picture it all and laugh out loud! I’m loving the pics but want more – other than that request – anything you write and any font is just fine – easy to please, I guess! OK – now how about a little show and tell? I need inspiration! Still is pretty here – sunny and warm and all salty air with the ocean breezes – you’all are invited anytime! Hugs, Diane

  20. Patti says:

Looking good. Keep up the good work. I know I missed a good time, looking forward to the next retreat. I do plan on being there. I will need a retreat after the Sept wedding.
    Patti

  21. Lani says:

Barb, Thanks for the link (again)….this is fantastic!! And how perfect for all of us coast-to-coast JSS’ers who want to stay in touch. I’ll feel like I’m still in Texas, with all my friends, while sitting in the middle of Manhattan!

  22. Hey, just checking everything out. Loving hearing all the comments. Yes we are “out here” for sure so your efforts are well received. Loving the pictures. We had sooooooo much fun. Is anyone up for “trash and treasures”. It did go on and on and on.
I like the larger font also. Ya know, these ol eyes need all the help out there. You all have a blessed week. Phyl from Kentucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. Linda Zeigler says:

Great job Barb. Are you sure you haven’t done this before? Keep up the good work, I look forward to your posts!

  24. Veda Wilhite says:

I love this. I always enjoyed your writings about Alaska. You do have a gift with words. Love the pics and seeing all the familiar faces. One question…when do you sleep? You are amazing. I wish I had just a spoonful of your computer knowledge.

What's on your mind today?
