Bonnie Hunter is my new best friend. Forever. She doesn’t quite know it yet, but she will one day. I need to get busy working harder on Pioneer Woman. She needs to be my new best friend too. Forever. She just doesn’t know it yet.
You see? Bonnie posted my blog URL on her Facebook page yesterday. And the hits came in so fast I couldn’t keep up. You could say it went viral. In fact, some have said that. Viral being a relative term in my blogging world. So I’m going to post about Bonnie every day. She apparently has a really big fan club. And I’m the newest member.
I thought I’d upload the videos I have of Bonnie. I’m sure all you people in Bonnie’s Fan Club want to see the videos, right? Actually I was going to post them anyway. Because they are so cute. But after the blog went viral, it became an urgent necessity. Any day now I’m going to start to sound like Sally Field when she won the Academy Award…… “They like me. They really like me!” Only to find out that you all really just like Bonnie. So I’m posting about Bonnie every day. After all, we are BFF’s. Somebody please tell Bonnie.
So here’s a video – you’re gonna love it!
Bonnie at Trinity Valley Guild in Forth Worth, TX
Isn’t she a cutie? If you haven’t actually seen her in person before, now you feel like you have, don’t you? So glad I shot that video so I could share it with you all. Here’s one more:
And now for my own fans who have been with me on this blogging journey. Bonnie’s fans can just skip over this part. I took a picture that I just had to share. Prior to yesterday, my biggest number of hits on any one day was 382. And that happened just one week ago. When someone shared a link to the blog on a Yahoo Group called “Stashbusters.” A group of over 5,000 members. Before that the biggest day was in December, right after the JSS Christmas party, when there were 305 hits.
Yesterday? The number of hits was one thousand, three hundred and forty nine. Yes, that’s 1,349. Which is, in my blogging world? Viral. In Pioneer Woman’s world? It’s a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very slow day. It’s all relative. But pretty exciting for li’l ol’ me.
WordPress has this nifty little graph screen with your numbers for the last 30 days. Well, until yesterday the number at the top of the graph was 400. Now it’s 1,500. So the graph changed quite dramatically. And here it is:
The first time I saw this with the tall bar on the far right last night, it took me by surprise. All those other little bars shrunk way down from the day before when the top of the graph was only 400! And as you can see, I took this pic this afternoon and there were already 363 hits today.
For reference sake, the blog I wrote about Pioneer Woman posted on Feb 17. So according to the bars, Bonnie is way more popular than PW. Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that Bonnie herself posted the link? New BFF, for sure.
By the way, welcome to the new subscribers to this li’l ol’ blog who are in France and England! And one who commented from Germany! And a great big thanks to my new BFF, Bonnie. Love ya, Bonnie!
Off to email PW,
Barb
I was one of the thousands yesterday! LOL It was great (as are the videos today!)! I was planning on seeing Bonnie in Pigeon Forge in March, but my silly husband chose to leave Afghanistan for R & R and has to go back to the airport that day….I just couldn’t get him to see that meeting Bonnie rated higher than sending him back to the war! Sheesh!!!! LOL You sound like my kinda quilter (and the Pioneer Woman doesn’t know how close she came to the Bestest BFF ever when she signed you dozen books! :-D). Just sayin’….
Blessings!
Mary Lou
Barb, all this excitment is giving me angenia….. Well Bonnie is in Germany…. and the rest of us are dealing with stash…..
Remind PW I will bring the pins….. and hold ’em….
Oh BROTHER!! Why would she put YOUR URL on her Facebook when JoAnne and I are WAAYY bigger fans? We’ve even made multiple quilts using her free patterns and WE were at her workshop! Sounds like you really SCHMOOZED your way onto her facebook!! HAHA
Wow, Barb; congrats to YOU! I feel like you and I should be BFFs; I think I’ve been following you since your very first post. And now, you’re in SB, too! Just go ahead and get my guest room in your house ready for my visit! 🙂
Congratulations on all those “hits.” We all love your blog. I have to thank you for the videos of Bonnie’s presentation. I’ve been following her blog since at least 2003 before she moved from Texas. When I learned she was coming to our guild, I could hardly wait for February’s meeting. As luck would have it, I got sick about two weeks ago with acute asthmatic bronchitis and couldn’t go anywhere but to the doctor’s office and the drug store to get prescriptions filled. Your videos filled a great void in my life. I felt that I was sitting right there with all of you watching this fabulous quilter. Thanks again for being so considerate and such a sharing human being.
Barb, thanks so much for the videos and the previous pictures. I was one of the holders of her quilts and I still enjoy going back and looking at the quilts!!! Thanks so much.
Thanks for sharing the videos. It’s unlikely I’ll ever get a chance to see Bonnie in person (unless she comes to England) but it was really fun to ‘see’ her in action 🙂
I guess I am way behind, I don’t do facebook, so I just found out today to come here from Bonnie’s blog. She posted a link there.
Bonnie sent me… love this post and will be back!
What a funny post. Thanks for sharing a little of your new BFF, and good luck with PW, I hear she is taking some time away from blogging, probably to have some free time to spend with you! 🙂
I am writing to you from Bonn in Germany. I was so looking forward to finally meeting Bonnie over the past weekend when she came to Germany but unfortunately I couldn´t go. My rehabilitation for a slipped disk in my spine started a few days ago preventing me from traveling. Thanks to your videos I now can see Bonnie and listen to her and I can even replay the parts I didn´t get the first time because English is a foreign language for me.
I am an avid follower of Bonnies blog and have made a few scrap quilts from her patterns.
Vielen, vielen Dank for sharing those Bonnie videos with us!
Sigrid
Thanks for posting the videos of Bonnie. I have been following her for a few years now. She has inspired me again and again.
Great videos – thanks Bonnie and thanks Barb. This might be the closest I get to seeing Bonnie as I live in the UK. Must get better organised with those leaders and enders and get more quilts finished!
Barb!
Did you see what that Bonnie did to you today??? :cD……
Yes, Susan, I DID see Bonnie’s post. And the hits just keep on comin’ – Bonnie? BFF for sure. 🙂
Barb,
I wanted to be Bonnie’s BFF, but I haven’t met her yet, so probably out of the question. I MIGHT get to meet her when she goes to Storm Lake, IA, but I am on the non-guild members waiting list. 😦 I will be checking out your blog in the future, because you made me LOL!
Barb, loved your blog post…led to me by Bonnie. She is quite the lady indeed. I’ve been lucky to have it first hand too when whe was in the San Diego area in January. She does get around; don’t know how she does it! Great work on your videos!, but of course how could it not be great viewing experience with Bonnie as your main character! Sandi
Hi, I just clicked the link from Bonnie’s site… and read your post and watched the video with great pleasure ! You see, on Friday I hopped into my car and drove 300 km from Alsace, France, to go and see her in Stuttgart. I was tired and not feeling too well as I arrived, but I didn’t regret driving all that way because she is FANTASTIC ! I really wanted to thank her and tell her my gratefulness for her site and her generosity and all the inspiration I got from her. And so I did ! I’m happy I got to. (now if I could only do so with Flylady as well…)
And it’s very nice to be able to hear her again (I recorded a 10-second segment with my camera, which is definitely lesser quality than yours !)
Really enjoyed the videos, thank-you.
Thanks so much for posting the links to the videos. When Bonnie was at Road to California I so wanted to hear her lecture, but it filled up early. I appreciated having a taste of what I missed.

hi Barb,
thanks for posting the 2 youtube videos. I was lucky to meet her last weekend in Stuttgart/Germany and would LOVE to safe the videos to my harddrive. But I have no idea how that works. Could you send the files to me?
greetings Brigitte
