Organization Post #573

OK – maybe I haven’t actually posted 572 times about organizing.  But it feels like it to me.  Why is it that we think if we get the right organizational tools, we will somehow be miraculously organized?  And we (read I) think that if we (I) find just the absolute right thing, all will be perfect.  Serene.  Neatly organized.  Stress-free.  Unflawed.  Ideal.  Complete.  But maybe that’s just me.

A few days ago I read a blog – Aunt Polly’s Porch – where a gal had a new organizing tool.  She showed several pictures of it.  And suddenly I had to have one.  She even told where to buy it!  So I was meeting my friend, Suz for lunch that day and decided she probably needed one too.  So I convinced her that we had to go to Michael’s after lunch.  And this is what I (not we) bought.

Isn’t it cool?  Here’s another view…..

Like it looks really different if I spin it around so you can see the other side.  I think I’m on a quest for the most pictures that can be posted in one blog.  But don’t you need one?  I’m sure you do.  Forget the fact that apparently Suz did not need one.  She was way more disciplined than I was.  But it was on sale.  40% off!  It just jumped into my arms.  That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.  And Suz really did try to make me forget it at her house later that day.  She really wanted to keep it.  Why, I bet she has already driven back to Michael’s and bought one of her own by now.  She’s just not tellin’.

And very soon I’m going to show you all the cool things that my niece, Janna brought me recently from The Container Store.  I could spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars there.  And I will tell you all about how she folded and organized my fabrics.  And show pictures, of course.  Lots and lots and lots of pictures.

But for today, I’ll just stick with this little organizer from Michael’s.  It’s in the scrapbook department, by the way.  You might need to know that when you head out to look for one after you read this.  They had 11 more of them at the Arlington store.  Just sayin’.  I think you need one.  I really hate to be all perfectly organized alone.  Neat.  Unflawed.  Complete.  Stress-free.  Ideal.  You need that too.  I just know it.

And don’t forget our first giveaway!  You can still enter by commenting on the post entitled “A Talented Friend.”  Just click on it in the column to the right and leave a comment.  Boo will be spinning the random number generator about 2:00 this afternoon.  And then I will notify the winner via email.  As soon as I hear back from them, I will post their name here.

Boo is resting up for the big event.

Good luck!

After seeing the pictures, NOW I know where to come for any cutting tools, measuring tools, marking tools…well, you get the idea! You are now EXTRA organized! Janna must be very proud! 😉

You know, I got this same organizer two years ago, 40% off at Michaels. I was so excited about it, and once I got it home I realized I have no where to put it, no where at all! I can not tell you how sad I was, because I was every bit as excited by my find as you were. It languished in the stinkin’ garage for two years. Finally I pulled it out and gave it to my sister in law, who had space for it, and totally loves it. It is a wonderful little piece!

I love the organizer. I have so many tools that I need constantly at hand and am always digging or searching for them in the various trays, bins, cups, etc. that I have surrounding me. This looks like it could handle everything and then some, all in one place, sturdily……. I am thinkin you did a public service today sharing your purchase. I hope my Michael’s still has some……. grattci (sp?) that’s italian for thank you.

Barb, you are a jewel! Connie came up yesterday for a short visit from Temple and I showed her this blog…of course, we got up this morning and drove to Michael’s and we both bought one. We are so excited…I thank you and Connie thanks you, also. Expecially love the white finish. We are both in the process of organizing our sewing room AGAIN!!! It has been too hot to do anything else, so I have really been cleaning out and culling…especially paperwork and photo albums. I now have a clean, empty LONG shelf…if you want to see an empty shelf, come on over, but HURRY!!

    Barb,
I actually went to Michaels today and got myself the organizer! It is awesome – thank you so much for telling us about it! I’m thinking about getting one for my step daughter and one for daughter-in-law for Christmas. I can think of all kinds of fun sewing doo dads to put in it – kind of like stocking stuffers but organizer stuffers 🙂
