July 9, 1926 – October 10, 2012
I’ve been meaning to write this post since October 10th. Has it really been almost a month already? Time goes by way too fast.
And I miss my Dad.
He fit right in in Texas in his cowboy hats……..
……. and cowboy boots. Nice legs, Dad.
And I’m glad that he lived near me for the last year and 7 months. I have very special memories of times together. There were challenging times and fun times.Â
And I wouldn’t trade a one of them.
The gentleman who bought my parents’ Colorado home wrote a poem just for Dad and the program at his memorial service. In 3 short verses, it perfectly described my Dad. Dad was always lending a hand with his carpentry skills.  When I look around my own home, I see my Dad’s labors everywhere. I am happy to be surrounded by the fruits of his labors.
A Carpenter
Bob Gibson was a carpenter,
His hands could shape the wood.
He built his house with love and care,
And shared with all he could.
His work enjoyed by many,
A church he helped to raise.
Family, friends and neighbors
All talk of Bob with praise.
Jesus was a Carpenter
And also built with care
A house for all believers.
Bob Gibson now lives there.

P.S. Mom is doing well and has lots of friends at the apartment community where she lives. I am very happy that she had over a year to get settled and make friends. And I’m glad she lives near.

Each and every picture makes me smile! Boots and knee socks, eh? It’s a good-kinda-missing-him because he is here with us too! The memorial service was so very special and such a beautiful tribute to your dad and your family!

To be surrounded by memories and loved ones is all we can hope for. You have been blessed.
